Muto (霧藤, Mutou) is an esper and a former member of Claw. He was part of the upper echelon called "Scar".

Muto has an extremely long chin, which bears a vertical scar starting from the bottom. He has small, round eyes, distinct cheekbones, and small eyebrows. His black hair seems to be slicked back except for a single curl in the front. He wears several yellow mala beads and a white, floor-length robe vaguely reminiscent of a monk. In the anime, he also wears red bead-like earrings.

Muto seems to be a creep with no redeeming qualities. He loves employing psychological torture to break the minds of his victims and inducing fear in them until they submit to Claw.

Muto separated Kaito Shiratori from the captured group of Awakening Lab kids, then pretended to kill the boy in order to frighten the others. He showed a similarly gruesome vision to Kaito.[1]

Muto later encountered Mob and an unconscious Ritsu in a hallway. He tried to frighten Mob into submission by showing him a vision of Ritsu in a puddle of blood, but Mob redirected Muto's power into the man's own brain, causing him to flip out and then lose consciousness.[2]

Powers & Abilities

Muto is able to put others under extremely realistic illusions, usually showing frighteningly gruesome visions to forcefully coerce others into bending to his will. This is primarily used as a tool to keep prisoners in line without bloodshed, but can also be used as a weapon to overwhelm the opponents' minds with sheer horror.
