Muto (霧藤 前夜, Mutou Zen'ya) is an esper and a former member of Claw. He was part of the upper echelon called "Scar".
Appearance[]
Muto has an extremely long chin, which bears a vertical scar starting from the bottom. He has small, round eyes, distinct cheekbones, and small eyebrows. His black hair seems slicked back except for a single curl in the front. He wears several yellow mala beads and a white, floor-length robe vaguely reminiscent of a monk. In the anime, he also wears red bead-like earrings.
Personality[]
Muto seems to be a creep with no redeeming qualities. He loves employing psychological torture to break the minds of his victims and induce fear in them until they submit to Claw.
History[]
Muto separated Kaito from the captured group of Awakening Lab kids, then pretended to kill the boy to frighten the others. He showed a similarly gruesome vision to Kaito.[1] He also showed Kaito a gruesome image of everyone else dead. It failed due to Kaito's and Daichi's powers.
Muto later encountered Mob and an unconscious Ritsu in a hallway. He tried to frighten Mob into submission by showing him a vision of Ritsu in a puddle of blood, but Mob redirected Muto's power into the man's brain, causing him to flip out and lose consciousness.[2] He hasn't been seen since and is presumably still recovering from the trauma he experienced from his fight with Mob.
Powers & Abilities[]
While Muto was not a very combat-suited esper, he was nonetheless a powerful addition to Claw. He specialized in torturing, interrogating, and subjugating prisoners with his mind-bending psychic power.
Quotes[]
- "Now, as a special service, let me show you something even more desperate."[3]
Etymology[]
- Muto means "fog, mist, haze" (霧) (mu) and "wisteria" (藤) (to).
Trivia[]
- Muto was the only member of Claw not seen interacting with any of the other members of the organization.
