"Mob 3 ~Trauma~" is the thirty-sixth episode of the Mob Psycho 100 anime adaptation, and eleventh episode of the third season.
Synopsis[]
??? rampages throughout the town as some of Mob's closest friends, acquaintances, and even Ritsu try and stop him, but all failed. It's up to Mob to face himself or cease to exist trying.
Plot[]
Amid the Student Council meeting, Ritsu senses the presence of ??? and abruptly leaves. Initially, Ritsu believed Mob was upset that Tsubomi had rejected him, but upon arriving at ground zero of the accident, learns that he was, in fact, part of an accident.
Meanwhile, ??? destroys the Smile Mart that Sakurai and Koyama worked at, and moments later, Suzuki arrives. He commends the two for living an honest life and asks them to leave handling ??? to him. Suzuki then proceeds to attack ???; however, he's easily overwhelmed by ???'s immense power. Thanks to Sho, Suzuki came to his rescue. Sho was then briefed by Suzuki about ???, who had hesitation against fighting Ritsu's brother. Suzuki was then intentionally struck by an attack from ??? so he could absorb some of his power to compensate for their power gap. With Sho's help, Suzuki planned to make ??? diminish his power until he faints.
Elsewhere, Ritsu ran to ???'s location all while reflecting on how Mob used to express his motions compared to his apathetic self in the present. Ritsu believed that Mob's emotional expression led to the birth of ???. Moments later, Ritsu found the naked and unconscious Teru.
Returning to Sho and Suzuki fighting against ???, their coordinated attacks pin ??? to a water tower and then hit him with a Charge Bomb. However, their attack was merely absorbed by ??? who tried to retaliate, but Mob began to fight back within himself. Seeing an opportunity, Suzuki tells Sho to run as he planned to absorb ???'s excess energy into himself even if it meant sacrificing himself. But before Suzuki can do it, Sho calls out to his father, making him remember the time he left Sho and his mother for his own selfish endeavors and gives up. Hanging onto Sho's shoulder, the two flee the scene as Joseph watches it unfold from a monitor on the helicopter he rode with Hatori.
As Sho and Suzuki walk away from the scene, Sho vows never to use his psychic powers again. From atop a building, Ritsu scopes out the area where ??? fought against the two. In his opinion, ??? had gone too far that time, while ??? continues onward.
Eventually, ??? runs into his fellow Body Improvement Club members who were there to help him. On the other hand, ??? unleashes an immense power that tears off club members' school uniforms and reveals their club outfits. Musahi speculates that Mob was in a state of sleepwalking. Hence the club members try and snap Mob out of it; however, all but Jun are blown away by ???'s power who tries and reason with Mob. Although, he too was blown away by ??? and was saved by Ritsu, who proceeds to talk with ???.
Ritsu then has a heart-to-heart with ???, causing his explosion meter to raise from 34% to 99%. Internally, Mob warns Ritsu that ??? isn't him and to run away, but is unable to reach him and hold his other self back. Constricted by ???'s psychic wires, Ritsu fights back, allowing ??? to reach Ritsu 100%. His retaliation knocks the bouquet of flowers out of ???'s hand, who then casts a barrier around it to preserve it, but Ritsu tries to break it. This causes ??? to blow Ritsu into the sky and blank out.
News of a giant tornado formulated in the center of town airs on the tv, and Reigen and Katsuya both head to the tornado's location. Lying flat on the ground, Ritsu realizes he's done all that he can and hopes that Mob returns to his regular self.
Internally, Mob confronts ??? and asks who he is, and ??? answers that he's Shigeo Kageyama. ??? then asks who Mob was, and he responds he's Shigeo Kageyama, which ??? claims that Mob was the "fake" him. The two then argue about who should stay and the other leave.
Back in reality, Reigen and Katsuya are close to the tornado, and Reigen plans to get reach its center where Mob was located at.
Returning to Mob and ???, the debate on who was the real one continues between them. ??? continues to insist he's the real one as Mob invalidates him, but his face begins to crack and peel as a piece of his face breaks off and flies onto ???'s face, who claims Mob will soon disappear.
