"Mob 2 ~Rival~" is the thirty-fifth episode of the Mob Psycho 100 anime adaptation, and tenth episode of the third season.
Synopsis[]
The alter-ego of Mob, ??? goes on a walking rampage causing mass destruction wherever he walks through, leaving nothing but rubble and people injured behind him. Because of this, Teru attempts to stop him, but fails, while an enemy of Mob's past is tasked with stopping him.
Plot[]
Mob's bloody and unconscious body laid on the street as the young boy and driver involved in his accident stay on the scene. The panic-stricken driver then tried to call an ambulance, but his cell phone had no reception. This odd occurrence started reverberating within the city, starting as a mild tremor, but escalating into a massive earthquake. The occurrence was reported on the news that Reigen and Serizawa witnessed from the Spirits and Such Consultation Office.
Elsewhere, a terrified police officer reports a person matching Mob's description was the cause of the earthquakes. Walking through a forest the person matching Mob's description is confronted by Teru who tries to reason with him. On the other hand, ??? refuses to listen and overpowers Teru. Taking no chances, Teru endows his scarf with his aura and tries to restrain him but breaks free from it and blasts Teru into the sky.
During his altercation with ???, Teru learns that the bouquet is a weak point, and he tries to destroy it, but ??? protects it with a barrier. ??? then grabs Teru's neck and tosses him miles away into an apartment complex building.
As ??? walks toward Teru, he tries to warn ??? as Mob that there are still unevacuated people surrounding them and then warns the people to head for shelter. As he's approached by ???, Teru asks if ??? was going through another "episode" and tries to relate with ???, claiming he's just like him in a way for losing control of his powers.
However, instead of reaching ???, Teru's words agitation him to the point of exerting an immense pressure, causing Teru's clothes to be stripped off. While Teru tries to reach Mob, internally, Mob sees Teru now with a shaven top again, and the damage he's caused to the surrounding area. Despite now being "unconsciously aware", his "conscious self" ??? still maintained control of his body. Determined in his endeavor of reasoning with ???, Teru uses his ESP to rescue the surrounding victims of ???'s rampage. Proclaiming himself as the winner as Mob's rival, Teru faints from exhaustion. With Teru no longer a threat to him, ??? walks away as the rescued people float safely in the sky encased in protective barriers.
Meanwhile, Koyama is rebuked by his superior Sakurai in the Smile Mart backroom. When they step outside, they see ??? approaching their store and accost him to defend it.
Elsewhere, news spreads of ??? as the catalyst cause of the city's destruction, and those within Mob's circle recognize him.
Flying above the town sky, an aircraft piloted by Hatori carrying prisoners including Toichiro Suzuki, with Joseph as their overseer. Joseph explains the situation to the prisoners and how they can earn a reduced sentence for their cooperation in the mission to stop ???. One of the prisoners acts in a cocky pompous manner and is easily beaten by Suzuki, who then KO's the other criminals claiming, he's the only one who can handle the target. Without a parachute, Suzuki leaps off the airplane into the epic center of ground zero.
