"Mob 1 ~Moving~" is the thirty-fourth episode of the Mob Psycho 100 anime adaptation, and ninth episode of the third season.

Synopsis[]

News that Tsubomi will be moving in a month's time prompts nearly all of the boys in school to ask her out, only to be flatly rejected by her. Mob is also interested in asking Tsubomi out; however, he doesn't have the gall nor the knowledge on how to do it without upsetting her. So, he goes around his circle and asks for advice on how to best approach her.

Plot[]

A flashback shows Mob demonstrating his powers to Tsubomi, who was impressed by them. Hearing the school bell, the two hold hands while walking home. Awakening in his room, Mob comments that what he experienced was just a dream.

Later, Mob walks to school with his brother Ritsu, and during homeroom, Mob hears the devastating news that Tsubomi will be moving next month. Therefore, Mob resolves himself to ask Tsubomi out before she moves. Mameta notices Mob's deep contemplation about Tsubomi, but notes that the other boys in the class have similar notions, making them his love rivals. Mob's explosive progress then rises from 16% - 19%.

In the Body Improvement Club room, Mob asks for their advice on what's the best way to approach Tsubomi by asking her out. Tenga suggests that Mob grow a pair, noting he's the school's shadow leader. This response perplexes Mob and Tenga is unable to give a follow-up response. Hence, Musashi asks Mob to take off his shirt, and when he does, the members slap Mob's shirtless body. Musashi then complimented the muscles Mob had developed since joining the club and assured him that Tsubomi would be impressed by them. With that, the Body Improvement club members go outside to do some exercise training.

As Mob puts his shirt back on, he sees that the old Telepathy Club members are there and then asks them for advice too. However, Takenaka intervenes, claiming they are unsuitable for such advice. Mob then asks if Takenaka considered reading Tsubomi's mind as Tome said he'd become popular if he did. On the other hand, Takenaka dismisses the idea, claiming that Tome wouldn't know what a girl feels. Tome then cuts in and suggests that Mob change his hairstyle.

Outside, a long line formed halfway around the school, comprised of boys who confess their love for Tsubomi, only for them to be rejected by her. Pacing back and forth in front of Tsubomi's classroom, Mob is approached by Mezato, who informs him that she isn't there. Believing she's gone home for the day, Mob walks off, claiming he'll try again tomorrow, but is told that boys in school are behind the school, asking out Tsubomi. Before Mob can go there, Mezato warns him that he'll be rejected like the others if he goes back there. In light of this, Mob asks Mezato if he should get a haircut, which perplexes her, so Mob asks what kind of guy girls like. Mezato lists off an assortment of gentlemanly qualities. Mezato then opines her thoughts about how confusing she finds it why so many boys like Tsubomi. Ignorant of most of Mezato's opinions, Mezato advises him to be more observant, but also asks why he likes Tsubomi.

After school, at Spirits and Such Consultation Office, Mob confesses to Reigen that he had no answer to Mezato's question. He then claims that puppy love surrounding appearance is common in middle school and shouldn't waste his time thinking over it. Serizawa, who had no such experience, notes his envy for Mob's experience and believes that his love for Tsubome was sincere. Reigen then proclaims that's what he was trying to convey and asks that Mob explain how he really feels. Mob then explains he's uncertain why he's attracted to her, but only that he always has liked her. Hence, Reigen gives him some advice on how to act in front of Tsubomi appropriately, which he got from his phone. Ultimately, Reigen suggests that Mob merely be himself and convey his feelings into words.

Afterward, Mob runs into Teru, who, after hearing what's been bugging Mob, suggests getting her a gift. As for what to get her, flowers were considered since they were close to a florist. Teru offers to pick out some flowers and clothes for him, but Mob declines, noting he doesn't have any money.

At home, Ritsu informs Mob about Tsubome moving next month, but Mob tells him he was already privy to that and explains his situation to him. Ritsu recalls when he overheard Tsubume confess that she was interested in someone she met at cram school, but that's it. Noticing Ritsu looking rather tense after his revelation about Tsubome, Mob thanks Ritsu and he, in turn, hopes that Mob doesn't lose heart too much.

Eventually, Mob contacts Tsubome's house, and when he talks with her, he flusteredly sets up a meeting with her after school, hoping to convey his feelings to her. The phone call causes Mob's explosive progress to rise from 20% - 24%.

The following day, Mezato and Mameta praise Mob for finding it in him to ask Tsubome out. Mob's inner monologue reveals that he's surprisingly calm, despite knowing he will soon ask out Tsubomi. However, his explosive progress gradually rises from 24% - 32%. After school, Mob visited Smiley Flowers and purchased a small bouquet of flowers for 1k yen. Right as Mob leaves, Minegishi stops him and trades Mob's bouquet with his own better one. While waiting on a sidewalk, Mob stops a car from hitting a cat, but right after that, he gets hit by a truck after pushing away a distracted kid walking on the street walk.
