"Divine Tree 3 ~Dimple Is~" is the thirty-first episode of the Mob Psycho 100 anime adaptation, and sixth episode of the third season.
Synopsis[]
A heart-to-heart between Mob and Dimple convinces the once lowly spirit who transcended into godhood to give it all up in favor of being Mob's friend.
Plot[]
Reaching 100%, Mob has a flashback of purchasing his monkey shirt with Teruki and the reactions from Ritsu and Reigen. In the present, Dimple disparages Mob's monkey shirt, causing Mob to emit a large burst of energy. After this, Dimple takes precautions to protect himself from Mob, but deduces that Mob had exhausted all of his energy. Threatening Mob with a sharp and pointed finger, Dimple demands answers from Mob, who claims Dimple won't harm him and wants to talk.
As Mob walks toward Dimple, his sharp and pointed finger bends out of shape, confirming that Dimple was bluffing, and that he could trust him. Mob based his trust on Dimple's honest opinion of his shirt, which perplexed the god-like spirit. A heart-to-heart between Mob and Dimple occurs where Mob opines Dimple isn't a dangerous spirit, but is going through a phase. Mob also apologizes for blowing Dimple off when he tried to talk with him in his room because of the popularity-high, he experienced. Although Mob extends his hand, Dimple, in a stoical position, notes his apprehension from Mob's attitude. Internally, Dimple reflects on how he accomplished his goal of becoming a god; however, he realizes how unsatisfying it is. Along with his opinions of Mob and his attraction to Tsubomi, his desire to be acknowledged, and his realization that being with Mob may have him lose sight of his goal.
Rejecting Mob's compassion, Dimple refuses to give up on his lofty ambitions, and Mob agrees to hear him out as his friend. The offer makes Dimple realize that all he wants in life... was a friend, and he agrees to give up his ambitions and return home with Mob, who faints from exhaustion. While Dimple carries Mob away, they discuss how Dimple will lose his god powers within a week and Mob's plans for disposing of the broccoli. Midway through their trek out of the area, Mob loses consciousness, which annoys Dimple. Right before Dimple can leave the tree, the newly emancipated Psycho Helmet stops him and demands that he leave Mob behind. To protect Mob from the army of Psycho Helmets, Dimple erects a barrier around Mob and fights off the horde of Psycho Helmets.
Afterward, Dimple checks on Mob, who begins to awaken, but is still malaise. Dimple manipulates Mob to walk out of the broccoli using some of his remaining power and, with him out of the picture, continues his resistance against Psycho Helmet. Outside of the broccoli, Mob announces to the legion of people that everyone should go home.
Back at home, Ritsu informs Mob about the breaking news involving the Divine Tree, which shows it floating into space. Ritsu notes having no memory of earlier that day, and Mob relates to it. Speculating it may have been mass amnesia, Ritsu states he'll discuss the matter with Dimple the following day as Mob decides to head back into his room.
