"Boss Fight ~The Final Light~" is the twenty-fifth episode of the Mob Psycho 100 anime adaptation, and thirteenth, as well as the final episode of the second season.

Synopsis[]

Mob continues his fight against Suzuki, who gradually loses control of the power he's culminated over the years. Because of this, Mob is forced to channel and re-direct Suzuki's power into himself to avoid an inimitable explosion. The battle's outcome leads to a giant stalk of broccoli to grow in the center of the explosion, which would later be called the Divine Tree.

Plot[]

The Cultural Tower floats above Seasoning City, and the final battle between Mob and Suzuki begins. Both fighters fight on equal footing, leaving Mob's friends watching below, shocked and amazed by the spectacle they all witnessed. Mob is almost overwhelmed by the fact that he can release his powers completely, but then, he sees his younger brother, Ritsu. Mob regains his composure, and he faces off with Suzuki, but Suzuki's power is too great. Mob finally gives up on trying to talk things out and puts everything he has into this battle. By encasing Suzuki in a pile of buildings shaped like a sphere, Mob can contain his opponent so that even his energy signal seemingly couldn't be detected. However, Sho could detect his energy and warns that their fight isn't over.

Escaping from his confinement, Suzuki grabs and tosses Mob to the ground. Using his power to grab Mob, Suzuki demands that Mob wake up and continue fighting; however, Mob concludes that he's incapable of re-directing Suzuki to a new path in life. Triggered, Suzuki attacks Mob with whip-like energy and then force-palms him to the ground. Immediately, Suzuki's arm distortedly twists, as Mob floats by him, lamenting his inability to change him, and starts to twist his entire body. Reaching a mental breaking point, Suzuki reaches 100% output and transforms into a white flaming skulled humanoid. Suzuki's transformation makes his power too volatile and unstable, making him into a living bomb capable of wiping out the whole city. Realizing how dangerous the situation had become, Mob runs away and tries to warn his friends nearby. While his friends evacuate, Mob returns to Suzuki, erects a barrier around them, and has a heart-to-heart with him. This causes Suzuki to have a flashback of his wife, who left him because of his selfish and nefarious goal. Back in the present, Mob re-directs Suzuki's immense energy into himself to mitigate the oncoming explosion.

In the aftermath, Reigen, Ritsu, Dimple, and Teru dig Mob out from the site of the explosion. Exiting outside, it's revealed that a giant stalk of broccoli grew from the explosion that originated from the broccoli seed that Mob kept in his shirt pocket. The broccoli would later be christened the Divine Tree. Nearly fainting due to his lethargy from overusing his power, Teru uses his telekinesis to carry him back to Reigen's home. However, before they do that, they fetch a spare tracksuit from his school for Mob to wear, as his outfit is badly worn out. There, Teru leaves the group to return home, which he forgets he destroyed, and Ritsu carries his brother, only to run into Musashi. Briefed on the situation, he contacted his fellow Body Improvement Club members (Minus Tenga) and insisted that Mob and Ritsu participate in a grueling training regimen. On the other hand, Reigen takes a taxi home.

Days after the explosion occurred where the broccoli appeared at the site, and news spread concerning it. People start to come to their own conclusions surrounding its origin. Rei of the Awakening Lab announces she'll be leaving the group as it conflicts with her morals, after learning the background origins of Scar. Kai and Dai concur with Rei's sentiments, therefore, Kenji agrees to stop researching them and admits he enjoys spending time with them all.

The former members of Scar, now without their signature facial scars, all discuss how they'll live their lives from there on out. Joseph, restraining Suzuki in a smoke lock, arrests him for his part in the Claw Organization. Before being led away, Suzuki gives Serizawa one last piece of advice about his lack of self-confidence and admits to Sho that he'd want to see his mother again to apologize to her. Sho then reveals he talks with his mom often and that she plans on visiting him soon.

Meanwhile, Mob and Reigen set up the office, after its damages were repaired from the insurance payout. At that time, Mob realizes he had broccoli seeds in his chest pocket, which gave birth to the tree in the city's center. Serizawa then enters the office and tells Mob that Reigen hired him. Before he starts his work there, Reigen shaves Serizawa head and facial hair to give him a neater and more appropriate look.
