" Guidance ~Psychic Sensor~" is the twenty-third episode of the Mob Psycho 100 anime adaptation, and the eleventh episode of the second season.

Synopsis[]

Sho and Ritsu arrive at the Tower only to be confronted by the Ultimate 5 member, Ryo. Relying on Ritsu's decoy tactic, Sho infiltrates the Tower. Mob encounters a trio of Claw pilfers, who, after becoming upset by them, face off against Ultimate 5 member Minegishi. To make matters worse, Matsuo, who intended to help Mob fight against Minegishi, loses his flask that carried Mogami and, thanks to a Claw soldier, gets released. Meanwhile, Sho faces off against his father, but is stopped midway by Katsuya.

Plot[]

Teru's team successfully defeats some Claw soldiers; however, the infiltration team was eliminated by Ryo who appears before Sho and Ritsu. Creating a distraction for Sho, Ritsu faces off against Ryo as Sho enters the Cultural Tower. Despite what Ritsu had expected, Ryo never intended to pursue Sho and began beating him up. Inside the Tower, Sho encounters Hatori on his way, beats him with a german suplex, and continues forward.

Elsewhere, Mob and Dimple catch some Claw soldiers stealing from a local shop that Mob and Ritsu used to shop at. Pleading with the Claw pillagers to return what they stole, but the Claw members refuse. Hence Mob gets angry and wants to teach them a lesson, but Minegishi appears and fights with Shigeproblematicdifficult position fighting against Ryo, the former 7th Division Scar members and Teru come to his aid. Returning to Mob's fight against Minegishi, Matsuo appears to support Mob, but amid this, he loses the flask that has Mogami sealed inside. Despite his pleas and warning to one of the Claw Soldiers, the Claw member shatters the flask, releasing the apoplectic and seemingly unstoppable Mogami.

Fused with Minegishi's plants, Mogami, now a giant humanoid root monster proceeds to crush Minegishi; however, Mob pleads for Mogami to let him live. When asked why Mogami should spare the nefarious plant esper, Mob argues that Minegishi can still become a better person. Despite Minegishi promising never to commit any crimes again, Mogami still questions Mob's naivete. Mob then argues that he wants to have faith in those he gives his chances to. Accepting Mob's logic, Mogami seemingly disappears, but advises Mob to be more strict towards others, as this would make him unbeatable.

Inside the Tower, Sho confronts his father, Suzuki, who disciplines his disobedient son with his Esper abilities and soon Katsuya steps in. The appearance of Katsuya makes Suzuki reveal his intention to travel around the world to search and see if world domination was possible and find an esper stronger than he. However, within that time, he did not find a single one that was and decided to face off against Sho seriously.

The fight involving the former Scar members, Ritus, and Teru's battle against Ryo continues. During it, Ryo reveals that all of the Scar members were facial trademarks were a sign of failure. Refusing to lose faith, Sakura notes how clever Ryo is with his dodging ability; he still took damage a couple of times. Teru agrees and is targeted by Ryo, who tries to kill him, but he can figure out that Ryo relies on his Esper abilities too much. Catching Ryo off guard, Teru, Ritsu, and the former Scar members all land blows on him. Trying earnestly to regain his concentration, Ryo uses his Mind's Eye and knocks everyone out, excluding Teru in his heightened state. Sensing, Mob's presence, Ryo prepares to confront him, only to be defeated by Reigen, who uses his Self Defense Rush.

Defeated by Reigen and weary of Mob's immense presence, Ryo surrenders, confessing, he's not interested in world domination, just having fun. Trigger by Ryo's words, Mob scolds him, which shocks Ryo enough to teleport out of the area. Ritsu then approaches Mob, who is grateful that Ritsu is alive, but insists he go inside the tower alone to face off against Suzuki. Upon Reigen's request, Dimple follows Mob inside.

Ascending up the tower stairs, Mob talks with Dimple about if he's scared or not. As they continue upward, they're confronted by a nervous and sweaty Katsuya who demands they turn back.

Anime and Manga Differences[]

  • A short battle with Sho and Ritsu against some Claw soldiers is omitted.
  • Due to entirely omitting the Antenna Team, the scenes where they report Hatori's defeat at the hands of Sho is omitted.
  • In the manga, Fukuda, Higashio, and Otsuki are rescued by Mukai, who makes her first appearance in this arc. In the anime, Sho's team is rescued after Mogami defeats Minegishi.
  • In the manga, more people participate in the fight with Shimazaki, appearing in different groups. Additional ones are Fukuda, Go Asahi, Higashio, Mukai, Otsuki, Rei Kurosaki, and Takeshi Hoshino. Kaito and Daichi play dead when they see Shimazaki.
  • In the manga, Matsuo is defeated by Claw's soldiers, while in the anime, Minegishi is the one who defeats him. Additionally, in the manga, Matsuo realizes that the soldiers are much more powerful than they should be (Later in the manga, it turns out that they have some of Toichiro's power in them).
  • In the manga, Mob shoots one of Claw's soldiers with the juice from a can.
  • In the manga, after Mogami's disappearance, there is nothing left. While in the anime, he remains a huge tree.
  • In the manga, Reigen first tries to convince Mob against entering the Cultural Tower.

Notes and Trivia[]

  • Matsuo and Keiji Mogami are added to the ending graphics.
  • The eyecatcher adapts the second omake of chapter 87 ("Miracle"- young Ritsu and Mob want to win an ice-cream contest).
