Hello there! I’m kind of new to the fandom, and I would like to ask a few questions after noticing a few things that weren’t exactly obvious to me until I encountered those online.
You see, Mob psycho 100 isn’t the most romanced leaning anime/manga, which it’s actually refreshing in a way, as romance is pretty much in the majority of pieces of media.
With that being said, I’ve seen my fair amount of shipping content and interpretations about Serirei, Ritshou and Terumob, especially with the official art being kind of sus sometime (There was apparently a Serirei wedding art ?)
So my questions would be : Are those ship considered canon now with what the official art does with them? Would the « wedding art » really be considered as such and seen as canon or just a marketing product/fanservice ?
Or do you think it’s a commercial « Yaoi bait » ? Like, is there an explanation other than fanservice in those, or do you see that as a possible hint for aspects of the characters than the story itself does not show ? Or do you still see the story as it is, regardless of the official art ?
If the art isn’t supposed to hint anything, why would they draw them like that? Is that a thing in pop culture or Japan ? 😭
Shipping culture, especially in Japan, can be confusing which is why I ask you guys about how you interpret those, you’re been around longer than me after all! And sorry if my questions sound stupid ! 😭
Also, no hate to the ships and shippers of course, if you like those go wild and have fun ! I just want you guys’ opinions on a topic I don’t understand, as I’m more the type of person so only ship canon stuff. Fanservice and shipping in general are a mystery to me, so I’m not sure whenever those are or not and what I should consider them as. Is that a matter of interpretation ? It’s confusing.
Anyway, I wish you a nice day everyone 🫶 (also if you’re annoyed by my questions just ignore them thank youuu)
